Melanie studied music at Colchester Institute of Higher Education, specialising in clarinet and piano. She went on to become an Associate of London College of Music in piano, a Licentiate of Trinity College of Music in Clarinet teaching, and a Fellow of London College of Music by thesis.

Melanie is a specialist in teaching adults, but also has several years experience teaching in schools throughout Surrey and Hampshire. She plays with local chamber music groups, and has participated in local music festivals.
